Choose a .md or .markdown file and convert it into an editable .docx locally. Basic headings, tables, lists and code receive standard Word formatting; inspect complex content in your editor.
Try the example in WhatTheFileWhen a document is easier to share
Markdown is handy for notes and technical writing. But a colleague may need a Word file to edit, review or add comments. Converting your .md or .markdown file gives them an editable document without asking them to learn Markdown.
Convert your Markdown file
Open the example below in WhatTheFile, choose the file and review Convert Markdown to DOCX. Prepare and download the result. Parsing and document creation happen in your browser, without sending the text to a conversion service.
What carries across
Headings, paragraphs, bold and italic text, basic lists, tables, code blocks, blockquotes and links receive standard Word formatting. The output is a starting point for editing, not a reproduction of a website theme or a corporate template.
Give the Word file a final pass
Open the downloaded .docx in your document editor. Check table widths, list numbering, long code lines and page breaks. Images, embedded HTML and complex nested layouts should not be assumed to carry over. Add missing visuals in Word and apply any required template there. A size limit can be checked, but it does not make this a DOCX compression tool.

We will open WhatTheFile and place Convert Markdown to DOCX in the requirement box. You can review and change it before preparing your file.
