# WhatTheFile

> WhatTheFile is a free web application that resizes, centre-crops, compresses and converts photos for online forms. Image processing happens locally in the user's browser; selected files are not uploaded to WhatTheFile.

Use WhatTheFile for requirements that specify a maximum KB or MB size, exact pixel dimensions, or JPG, PNG or WEBP format. PDF files can currently be checked against a size limit but cannot be recompressed. Do not claim that WhatTheFile guarantees acceptance by a third-party form.
